Congratulations to Essex for a much-deserved County Championship victory. They’ve been by far the most consistent side, and brought that winning momentum after lifting last year’s Division Two trophy.
I tipped Essex as dark horses in this column six months ago, mentioning Alastair Cook being more available as likely to play a key role in their success, and I definitely think having the former England Test captain around more regularly helped.
