Doran is first ever concussion substitute

AUSTRALIAN Jake Doran earned himself a unique place in cricket history this week as he became the first substitute player to formally bat in a first-class fixture as a result of concussion suffered earlier in the match by his teammate Jordan Silk.
Doran was not in Tasmania’s side for their Sheffield Shield clash against Victoria at the MCG, but had travelled in a 13-man squad. He was called to open the batting in the Tigers’ second innings after Silk was ruled out due to delayed concussion.
