OLLIE POPE must wait at least another 24 hours for his England Test debut after persistent rain wiped out the whole of day one of the second Test with India at Lord’s.
The 20-year-old Surrey batsman was drafted in for the out-of-form Dawid Malan and was due to bat at four as England look to build on their 1-0 series lead from an absorbing first Test at Edgbaston last week. But instead he was left confined to the dressing rooms as rain fell in London throughout the day before play was finally abandoned for the day shortly before 4.50pm.
