TUES MAY 23: South East Stars 169-6 (Smith 83, Dunkley 53, Bell 2-25) lost to Southern Vipers 171-4 (Wyatt 40, Bouchier 30, Davies 1-18) by six wickets
DANNI Wyatt smashed 40 off 20 balls as Southern Vipers began their CEC title defence with a six-wicket victory in a record run chase over South East Stars.
Put into bat, Stars’ opening pair Sophia Dunkley and Bryony Smith put on 134 for the first wicket before Smith was run out by Alice Monaghan for 83. Dunkley fell for 53 and the run rate slowed dramatically as the last 35 balls saw only 35 runs and six wickets.
