Indian test star Umesh Yadav has been signed on a short-term contract to spearhead Essex’s title charge.
Now “one hundred per cent fit” after sustaining an injury in June’s World Test Championship final, Yadav is due to debut against Middlesex this week and will be available thereafter as the club seek to reel in Surrey.
“Definitely the talk at the club is about how big it is to beat Surrey,” he told The Cricket Paper. “But we have to take it as a one-by-one game. I know we are in number two right now, it’s a case of trying to win all our last games to win the Championship.”
