2023 Sussex Premier League champions Cuckfield suffered an upset at the hands of Bognor Regis, going down by 27 runs on the opening day of their season.
In pursuit of a target of 170, Cuckfield were bowled out for 142, Theo Beynon-Ayres picking up 4-23 to rock the title holders.
Indian overseas all-rounder Aditya Ajit Rane hit 47 for Bognor Regis who finished just one place above the relegation spots last season.
Elsewhere in the league, 2023 runners-up Preston Nomads took full advantage of Cuckfield’s slip up as they took a maximum 30 points from a six-wicket win over Middleton.
