After the latest development to Project Darwin, it’s hardly surprising if those following it are struggling to keep track. For those in need of a recap, here’s what’s happened in the process so far.
Ahead of the 2024 domestic season, the ECB announced that, from 2025 onwards, women’s domestic cricket would be brought into line with the county system. The existing regional sides, which are based at county grounds but represent regions which cover multiple counties, will be scrapped. Each first-class county was invited to apply to host a ‘Tier One’ side from 2025 onwards.
