It’s been a really entertaining World Cup so far, with some high-quality cricket and enough surprises to keep us guessing.
But I can’t help but feel it’s been undermined by the ICC’s decision to unnecessarily preordain parts of the draw.
Firstly, the ICC’s decision to determine which Super 8s group each team would go into based on their seeding rather than whether they finished first or second in the initial group stage led to some avoidable dead-rubbers, and that’s not good for the tournament.
