AFGHANISTAN QUALIFIED for the semi-finals of a World Cup for the first time by defeating Bangladesh by eight runs in a low-scoring thriller in St Vincent and in the process knocked out Australia.
Jonathan Trott’s team had to win to go through and seemed racked with nerves in posting 115-5. A topsy-turvy, rain-interrupted run chase followed, with both of the teams playing and Australia watching on nervously, seemed to be favourite to go through.
