Netflix has a lot to answer for. It has taught us to expect our entertainment in tightly-packed series, available all at once. Binge-watching is not only possible but encouraged, not least by the autoplay that ushers in the next show unless you actively call a halt.
Those of us socialised by 20thcentury television would have to wait a week between shows, relying on a paragraph in the Radio Times to remind us what the hell happened last time.
