GLAMORGAN head coach Matthew Maynard has received an MBE for services to charity and sport at Buckingham Palace.
Maynard was presented with the honour by HRH Prince of Wales during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
Maynard, the former director of cricket at Somerset, set up the Tom Maynard Trust following his son’s death in 2012, offering grants to young sports enthusiasts.
At the same time, The Big Bike Ride has become an annual fundraising event and has seen Maynard joined by the likes of Marcus Trescothick and Rob Key on various long distance cycle rides.
