FORMER England skipper Mike Gatting has jumped to the defence of one of the most fundamental parts of village cricket – the traditional tea.
Fair Oak’s chairman, Tony Oxley, whose side play in the 318-team Hampshire Cricket League, revealed teas cost the club almost £2,000 a season.
He said: “It does sound an outlandish idea, but cricket teas cost so much money and take up so much time, getting rid of them could actually help the league.”
