Shah fails to rescue Welwyn’s home run

OWAIS Shah hit a swift 92 from 84 over the weekend but couldn’t prevent Welwyn Garden City getting their Hertfordshire Premier League defence off to a losing start.
In their season curtain-raiser Welwyn faced last season’s thirdplaced side – North Mymms – but after being set a target of 281 fell 27 runs short.
Hamza Qayyum and Andy Lewis both hit half-centuries for North Mymms and James Southgate also reached that mark in reply.
