THE YEAR 1984 might be better known for George Orwell’s masterpiece but in Blackheath it holds a special place for their cricket team.
Now, 34 years on Blackheath have become the Big Brother of the division once again, securing the Kent Premier League title with a 205-run crushing of outgoing champions Beckenham. It has been a long time coming for the side under the tutelage of skipper Chris Willetts, who celebrates a decade of captaincy by clinching the title by a solitary point.
