IT was heartbreak for Darlington as their agonising five-run defeat to relegation rivals Middlesbrough condemned them to second-tier cricket next season.
With 11 runs needed from the final over to send their opponents down, a solitary six from overseas player Majid Haq was not enough to steer Peter Armstrong’s side clear of the bottom two and deliver a final day miracle.
