SAM PEARCE boosted his hopes of earning a professional contract with an unbeaten 96 to help Bridgend Town to an emphatic first win of the season in the South Wales Premier Division One.
The 23-year-old narrowly missed out on a century as Bridgend powered to 235-3, before taking a wicket to help restrict visitors Ammanford to 154-8 in reply and seal an 81-run win.
Following defeat at Swansea and a cancelled clash against Cardiff, Pearce was delighted to play his part in kick-starting Bridgend’s 2021 campaign, in a league he believes is as competitive as ever.
