TAKELEY cricketers have raised nearly £15,000 for St Clare Hospice by walking to Lord’s in memory of club stalwart Malcolm Brown.
Malcolm’s son, Liam, first XI captain at the Essex outfit, organised the 48-mile trek in honour of his dad — who died aged 59 in 2018 — and was among the 20-strong group of club members to take part.
Liam said: “I thought we were being ambitious setting the target so high but we reached over £10,000 really quickly and the figure has just been rising.
