SIR MICHAEL PARKINSON passed away this week aged 88. The veteran broadcaster and iconic chat show host was a huge fan of cricket throughout his life having played with both Dickie Bird and Geoffrey Boycott at Barnsley Cricket Club in the 1950s.
“He was a Barnsley boy, like myself, and it was an absolute pleasure to know him and his family” commented Darren Gough, managing director of cricket, for Yorkshire CCC.
