BLACKHEATH hosted fellow relegation battlers Hayes in what proved to be a massive game at the foot of the table in the Kent Premier League.
Yet they crashed to defeat despite needing just two runs to win with two wickets in hand in a thrilling climax.
Batting first, Hayes limped to 124 in bowler-friendly conditions thanks mainly to 30 from Alex Blake. The home side were ticking along nicely in pursuit at 68-3 but lost a cluster of wickets to put them on the brink at 94 -7.
