BIRMINGHAM & DISTRICT champions Moseley got their season off to the worst possible start after they went down to Smethwick by seven wickets.
Moseley were bowled out for just 116, Indian first-class player Deepak Khatri bagging 5-22, while there were also three wickets for Manraj Johal and two for England Under-19 spinner Tazeem Chaudry Ali.
Smethwick reached their target inside 21 overs, veteran batter Kadeer Ali, brother of England’s Moeen, finishing 44 not out.
