ALVASTON & BOULTON defeated Sawley by eight wickets on the final day of the season to seal the Derbyshire Premier Division title.
It was the club’s first title since 2000 and just reward for a superb campaign in which they won 17 out of their 22 fixtures.
Having dismissed their opponents for 174, with Derbyshire CCC’s Mitch Wagstaff claiming 3-48, they eased to their target in 27.1 overs, with Chris McIlroy making 66 not out and Garry Park, the ex-Durham and Derbyshire all-rounder, unbeaten on 59.
