SIR JACK Hobbs famously scored 100 first-class hundreds after the age of 40, but you wonder how many that most recent cricketing knight, Sir Alastair Cook, might score after being ennobled? So far, Cook, 34, has one, being the unbeaten 150 he made against Cambridge MCCU at Fenners last Tuesday.
While he was busy showing the students what serious batting looked like and his England team-mates what they are still missing, the rest of us speculated on how much longer he could keep going before the allure of sheep farming tempts him away from the game that has been his life.
