Olly Stone set to miss rest of season

NORTHANTS bowler Olly Stone is likely to miss the rest of the 2016 season after injuring himself as he celebrated taking a wicket.

Stone, 22, jumped in the air after Moeen Ali was caught behind off his bowling and landed awkwardly, damaging an anterior cruciate ligament.

He has been referred to a specialist surgeon after scans showed that he suffered a “compact knee injury with anterior cruciate ligament and cartilage involvement”.

Stone had played in three of Northant’s County Championship matches this summer and the same amount of T20 Blast games, taking six wickets in the four-day format and three in the shorter game.
