CRICKET’S under-19 World Cup provides a perfect grooming environment for the match-fixing gangs blighting the sport.
That’s the view of Fred Lord, director anti-corruption and transparency operations, at the International Centre for Sports Security (ICSS).
England are currently in New Zealand preparing for the World Cup’s start this weekend and Lord believes that criminal gangs will have a presence on the ground – and will be intent on targeting individuals who they believe could prove invaluable not only now, but in the future.
