JOE ROOT will get his summer underway for Yorkshire at Essex today determined to make the big scores that eluded him in the winter.
England’s Test captain will play his first cricket since returning from New Zealand last month when his county face the champions in a star-studded match at Chelmsford that will also feature Jonny Bairstow for Yorkshire and Essex’s England opener Alastair Cook.
