JOE ROOT has underlined England’s commitment to keeping Chris Woakes fit for the whole summer after the seamer was rested for today’s fourth ODI against Pakistan at Trent Bridge.
Woakes will sit out the match in Nottingham as he manages a long-term knee complaint that flared up again over the winter.
The 30-year-old was back to his best in Bristol last Tuesday when he took four wickets in the third ODI against Pakistan.
