BEN STOKES has revealed that he has spent months coming to terms with the fact his father has brain cancer.
England’s star allrounder missed the second and third Tests against Pakistan to fly to New Zealand to be with his father, Ged, 64.
Stokes is currently in quarantine in an Auckland hotel waiting to visit his father at his Christchurch home.
“Leaving the team was the right decision from a mental point of view,” Stokes said. “My head wasn’t really in it. I didn’t sleep for a week.”
