FOR Rory Burns, the moment of redemption was made all the sweeter by the fact there was a crowd there to witness it at a sundrenched Lord’s.
There may have been only 6,500 fans in the stands but the noise they made as he celebrated his third Test century made it feel as if there were four times that number present.
After more than a year of England playing home Tests behind closed doors, it was an emotional moment.
For Burns, 30, this was an important knock. After 19 months since his last Test century he desperately needed runs.
