After making huge strides forward in the past year, promising youngster Michael Pepper wants to pile on the runs this season to earn himself a professional contract with Essex.
The 19-year-old wicketkeeper played for Cambridgeshire through the age groups before batting his way into the Essex 2nd XI with several impressive performances for the Unicorns.
Pepper was a keen golfer growing up and got his handicap down to 5.5, but turned his full attention to cricket at 15 when he was unable to shave any more strokes off his game.
