Harmanpreet Kaur rejoins Lancashire Thunder for a second year.

Lancashire Thunder have announced that India’s World T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be rejoining them for their 2019 Kia Super League campaign.

Harmanpreet Kaur has become a mainstay of the Indian national team as she became the first Indian women to hit a T20 International century when she scored an unbeaten 103 off only 51 balls against New Zealand at the 2018 World T20.

Speaking about the move Kaur said: “I really enjoyed my first spell in Lancashire, everybody made me feel very welcome and I have some great friends in the dressing room, who I can’t wait to play with again.

“It is a very talented squad and I know we will all be hungry to go one further this year, following the disappointment of narrowly missing out on Finals Day in 2018.”

Kaur, 30, made 164 runs in her first season at Lancashire Thunder, including a high score of 74.

Alex Blackwell, coach of Lancashire Thunder, was also pleased to welcome Kaur back for a second year.

“Harmanpreet made a fantastic start last summer, holding her nerve in the final over to hit the winning runs at Surrey after joining up with the squad late.

“She also played a great knock in our Roses victory against Yorkshire in Blackpool and I am certain that she will be determined to showcase even more of her skills this summer.

“It is great to have one of the world’s leading T20 batters in our ranks once again.”

This is Lancashire Thunder’s first announcement regarding the identity of their overseas players for 2019 with two more overseas players set to be confirmed in due course.
