Glamorgan sign James Foster as T20 consultant

Former Essex and England wicket-keeper James Foster has joined Glamorgan as a T20 consultant for the upcoming T20 Blast competition.

Foster played 179 T20 matches during his career with the vast majority for his former county side Essex. In addition Foster played 23 internationals for England between 2001 and 2009 including five T20 internationals. With over 19,000 runs in domestic cricket, Foster will provide plenty of experience to the Glamorgan setup.

The 39-year-old has already held coaching roles for England Lions, Worcestershire and a variety of T20 teams across the globe. That experience was a factor Mark Wallace, Glamorgan’s director of cricket appreciated.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring in James Foster to bolster our coaching ranks for the Vitality Blast”, Wallace said.

“James is one of the highest rated young coaches in the game having already worked with England, and in T20 tournaments across the world.

“This is a good time of year to bring in a new voice with different ideas we look forward to him helping us to keep pushing the development of our players and coaches.”

The former Essex wicket-keeper retired only last year. However, he will be hoping to make an immediate impact as Glamorgan gear up for the start of their T20 Blast campaign at home to Somerset next Thursday.

“I’m excited to be working with Glamorgan in their upcoming Vitality T20 Blast campaign, and very much looking forward to joining up with Matt Maynard, Colin Ingram and the talented Glamorgan group.”
