IT WAS great to see Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka play out an enthralling Test match in Colombo which Sri Lanka eventually won by four wickets after chasing down 388. After Zimbabwe’s 3-2 win in the preceding ODI series, it provided another sign that Zimbabwe might be enjoying a resurgence.
Yet there was a sadness underpinning the game, too: not merely anger about Zimbabwe suffering from some questionable umpiring, but frustration that the series only consisted of a solitary Test, and Zimbabwe’s next Tests aren’t until October. How can they improve without more cricket?
