SOMETIMES it feels as if ICC meetings are just an excuse in finding innovative ways to hurt cricket’s Associate nations. Inadvertently or not, the last ICC meeting managed that.
After October’s meetings, it was announced that the eligibility criteria in international cricket were changing. Now, anyone switching between any nation – including from an Associate to a Full Member – must wait at least three years between representing their old country and their new one.
Sounds reasonable enough in theory. But in practice it threatens to scupper Associates. In New Zealand ...
