RICKY Ponting, formerly in charge of the Mumbai Indians, will return to the IPL this year as head coach of the Delhi Daredevils.
Former Australian captain Ponting, 43, led the Mumbai side to the title in 2015 and now takes over the mantle at Delhi from Paddy Upton, with whom the franchise parted ways last year following the conclusion of his two-year contract.
Ponting’s coaching career has also seen him take interim charge of Australia’s home T20I series against Sri Lanka last year which the visitors won 2-1.
