IRELAND were given a stark reminder of how tough cricket at elite level will be by a player with an Irish passport as they drew with Somerset in a rain-affected four-day game at Taunton.
The Irish, having recently returned from agonisingly missing out on World Cup qualification in Zimbabwe, were using the game as a warm-up for their maiden Test when Pakistan visit Malahide, Dublin, next month. Ireland were trailing by 435 runs when play was abandoned after rain washed out the final day on Monday.
