AS Steve Patterson, 34, continues his role as stand-in skipper for Yorkshire during their Royal London Cup campaign, it’s not hard to understand why coach Andrew Gale chose the seam bowler to take over from the ill Gary Ballance.
Experienced, consistent and a sold individual, Patterson’s reliability and his level headed and intelligent approach to cricket clearly indicated that Yorkshire’s accurate seamer could handle the responsibility.
