FORMER Derbyshire captain Kim Barnett has stepped down from his role as a cricket advisor at the county with immediate effect.
Barnett returned to his former club in September 2016 as Head of Cricket following a coaching restructure, but the side are languishing at sixth in Division Two of the County Championship, and have won just once this season.
John Wright, the former New Zealand opener, will lead the squad during the T20 Blast in his capacity as a specialist limited-overs coach.
