An Afghan refugee who became the first player born in the 21st Century to play county cricket was never likely to avoid the headlines for long.
That was the fate of Derbyshire off-spinner Hamidullah Qadri when he made his County Championship debut against Glamorgan in July 2017 as a 16-year-old.
His appearance was no minor footnote, either, the teenager taking 5-60 in Cardiff and bowling his county to a first four-day victory in nearly two years.
