ALASTAIR Cook is aiming to end his international career on a high – but whatever happens at The Oval this week he believes England are in a strong position to thrive in the future.
Cook’s 12-year career at the highest level will conclude with the fifth and final Test against India that starts today after he admitted he had lost the “edge” to continue representing his country.
The 33-year-old broke the news to team-mates during a tearful address at the end of the fourth Test in Southampton that England won to secure an unassailable 3-1 series lead.
