STEVE Magoffin would never have become such a picture of consistency had he not kept his own ambitions sky-high.
So when it came to calling time on a first-class career spanning 15 years, the 38- year-old refused to dial down on his expectation levels and brought the curtain down. Magoffin retired last week with his county cricket love affair coming nearly full circle, the Australian bowing out after a second spell at Worcestershire, whom he first played for back in 2008 after a brief sojourn at Surrey as injury cover.
