BOWLERS SHOULD GET THE BENEFITS

WHERE did the unwritten rule come from that the benefit of the doubt should always go in favour of the batsman? What is the logic of it?
In any innings there are only ten wickets to be had, while runs are limitless. So surely the bowler, who has by far the harder task?
And why is it considered bad sportsmanship to run out a batsman at the bowler’s end if he leaves the crease? If he does so at the other end, he is stumped and is rightly out.
This just adds to the feeling that the game is biased towards the batsman and against the bowler. How has this been allowed to come about?
