MARCUS O’Riordan turned down a shot at Test cricket to sign a contract with Kent and the all-rounder is in no doubt that he made the right call after a promising Bob Willis Trophy campaign.
The 22-year-old was initially released by Kent when he was 18 and last summer joined Muckamore in Ireland, the country his parents are both from, with visions of a Test call-up.
However, Kent returned and offered him a contract last year and, after a bit of deliberation, he chose to return to the Garden of England for another crack.
