There was certainly an emotional outpouring as England fell to a series defeat against New Zealand at Edgbaston last weekend.
No little soul-searching too, as Joe Root scrabbled around for excuses after yet another batting collapse on an entirely blameless pitch against what effectively amounted to a New Zealand reserve side.
Miserable stuff.
