CRICKET is our national summer game though you may be forgiven for not assuming that if you follow one of those counties with no cricket for 18 days in August, traditionally a peak period for chasing leather.
It isn’t unseasonal weather that is causing this hiatus but a muddled fixture list courtesy of the England and Wales Cricket Board, who allegedly run this great game here.
Five counties are afflicted being those not involved in the knockout stages of the Royal London Cup or the T20 Blast.
Their members, a put upon lot already, must be seething.
