What a time it’s been for England Ashes fightbacks. After the first two men’s Tests and the first two matches of the women’s multiformat series we could so easily have been staring at a swathe of dead rubbers and the grim prospect – for England fans – of a double Aussie whitewash to dampen a home summer.
