This column is called The Grumbler for good reason.
It is the pseudonym I first used 20 years ago as a playful dig in the ribs at the passionate yet problematic psyche of county members.
Much has changed since then, yet much has stayed the same.
For a start, I am now deep in the middle-aged demographic I was teasing back then but the game has been so marginalised that the membership pool has not been renewed and, sadly, I remain something of a youngster.
