Chris Jordan has signed a contract extension with Sussex which will keep him in Hove until the end of the 2019 season.
The England international enjoyed one of his best seasons on the south coast this year when he took 52 wickets in the County Championship and scored 483 runs.
Respected for his abilities in limited overs cricket, Sussex director of cricket Keith Greenfield explained that Jordan was central to his plans in returning the county to Division One as much as to their hopes of success in the One-Day Cup and T20 Blast.
“It’s fantastic that CJ has signed a contract extension, further committing his future to the club,” said Greenfield.
“He is becoming a key, senior figure in the squad and is playing an important role in developing the younger bowling group.”
Jordan, 29, moved to Sussex from Surrrey four years ago where his stock as an international player has grown, and though still on the right side of 30 the bowler alluded to his excitement at passing on tips to Sussex’s core of young bowlers.
“I’m delighted to be extending my stay here at a club I have grown to love,” said Jordan, who has played in 8 Tests and 31 ODIs for England.
“There is a lot of talent here and I’m looking forward to winning trophies with this great club.”
Sussex finished fourth in this year’s County Championship; 42 points behind Division Two champions Worcestershire and 26 points off promoted Nottinghamshire.
