A MAJOR talking point from England’s victory in the third ODI against Australia was whether Jos Buttler caught the nick from Steve Smith and whether the umpires should give a ‘soft’ signal.
As an ex-wicketkeeper, it looked to me like Buttler caught it. The ball was nestled into three fingers and his thumb, whereas if it bounces just in front, it will generally bounce into the palm of the hand. The gloves also cloud the matter because they were laying almost flat when the ball went into them, but glove would have been underneath the ball.
