BEN Stokes’ quickfire start was not enough of a foundation as Durham’s middle order were left in a spin by Sussex’s slow men.
Despite England’s well documented red-ball troubles in the spin department, there appears to be no such worries in the limited-over formats. After Matt Parkinson’s heroics for Lancashire on Thursday, Danny Briggs and Will Beer followed in their countryman’s footsteps.
When Beer removed Stokes for a well-made 34 off 24 deliveries, Durham looked well set at 66-2 off seven overs.
