THIS week, James Anderson became the most capped bowler in Test cricket and no one deserves the plaudits more than him.
His 146th Test surpasses Shane Warne’s record as the most capped specialist bowler in history and sees Jimmy enter cricket folklore once again. He’s set the benchmark.
For me, though, Jimmy’s prolonged success owes a lot to the introduction of central contracts. The ECB have looked after both he and Stuart Broad for a lengthy period of time, keeping them fresh and protecting them from burnout.
